The gallery features the work of over 300 of this country’s outstanding professional artists. Both the gallery and the condominium units which houses it are owned by Jean and Wally Smith, who for many years were professional artists. Smith Galleries encompasses 3600 square feet and was designed by Bennett Strahan, a Taliesan architect (Frank Lloyd Wright). The interior of the gallery is fully equipped with custom display fixtures made by Wally.

Smith Galleries has been at its present location for 30 years. Prior to that, the Smiths owned The Potters’ Mark in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for seventeen years, giving them a total of 43 years experience in the art market.
Smith Galleries is the 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2010 Island Packet Reader’s Choice Best Art Gallery, and the 2015 Best Jewelry Store. The gallery was also awarded the 2014 & 2013 Readers Choice “Favorite Art Gallery” by the readers of Monthly Magazine. And the gallery recently won “Best In The Lowcountry Art Gallery and Children’s Store” by the viewers of the WTOC television station.
